Another Day, Another Dollar

Last month, due to the triennial elections I didn’t know if I’d be a Fed Rep much longer, now in January I’m still a Rep and have taken over as Chairman of the Constables Branch Board.

It’s a funny old world.

I’d like to thank the outgoing Chair, Gary Davies, on behalf of the federation, especially the Constables Branch Board for the work he’s done whilst holding the position for the last seven years.

Staff Reductions

I have read with great interest the latest Manchester Evening News outlining the amount of sickness being taken by Officers within GMP through Stress and Depression.

According to MEN figures this has seen an increase of 60% over the last 2 years, if true and accurate a figure I would hope you agree is very worrying.

Now the Olympics are out of the way, we should all

be braising ourselves for the onslaught from our friends in Government.

Everything is now set in place to launch their Ideological vision for British Policing.

Because that is what this vision is, it has nothing to do with the Austerity measures the Country finds itself in, it is personal.

We have had the situation where a so called Independent advisor Tom Winsor, has presented 2 reports to the Home Office.

Each of these reports and recommendations having to go through the PNB process, where the National Federation presented facts and figures outlining greater savings than proposed by Winsor.
